10 Things to do in Storms River



     1.  Cruise up the storms river. The Spirit of Tsitsikama is a passenger boat that departs from the river mouth every 45min. At some points the fern encrusted walls are so high and the river so narrow that the sky is reduced to a slit. When the water is clear stingrays and sharks can often be seen.      2.  Be mesmerised by the sea. There are plenty of braai spots, viewpoints and headlands to explore. Dolphins are a common sight. Fishing is banned along the Tsitsikama coast. 

     3.  Explore on two or four wheels. The history of the storms river is widely tied up with the timber industry, there are logging talks and dirt tracks to explore. The Tsitsikama bike company has mapped several routes including a 10km loop up storms river peak. A woodcutters journey is soothe great way to explore.

     4.  Swing through the trees. Tsitsikama canopy tours have 10 streek cables slung between sturdy platforms among the boughs of the tallest forest trees. A harness is attached by experts and they will walk you through the experience. This is a 3 hour  tour,there is also a zipline cruise with Tsitsikama falls adventures.

     6.  Take the hike, the otter trail is a 5 day coastal hike that starts at the storms river and goes through glorious scenery and had been voted south Africa best hike over and over again. traversing a section of the Tsitsikama mountain and passing through indigenous forest. If you don't want to do a long hike there are plenty of short hikes available

     7.  Check out threes wolves. The lupus foundation (non profit) took on the wolves who live in natural packs in the large Woody enclosures a mere 1km from the storms river village.

     8.  Aerial sight seeing in a helicopter. Roland black has been piloting choppers for many years and knows the scenery off by heart.

     9.  Scuba, snorkel, swim. Tsitsikama is the only nature reserve in the world to boast an under water scuba and snorkel trail.
